This is Tom, on the hunt for another property with potential.

Buying his first apartment was fun. Renovating his third home to date, and scouring for his family’s next home, is serious business. It’s like the Grand Finals compared to a casual run.

Which is why financier Tom, 42, spends every moment hunting down the perfect abode. Even a late night, quaffing pinot at that trendy wine bar near work, won’t deter him from rising at 5am to bookmark this week’s hottest properties.

Come lunchtime and he’s online again, house-hunting after a quick browse of holiday ideas. Whale watching in the Whitsundays, skiing in the Snowies? As long as it’s novel, Tom’ll make it fit within the budget.

But back to this weekend’s open-for-inspections. Tom wants value, because he and his super-creative wife, Justine, know they can transform any ugly duckling home. They’ll pack the twins (and the tablet, loaded up with kids’ cartoons) into the car and drive by six properties, inspecting maybe two, before debriefing at a child-friendly pub.  

Tom and Justine will get their dream home. They’ll also leave hundreds of page impressions along the way, and share each weekly shortlist with close family and friends.
